Customer Alert
The Internet has become fertile ground for criminals to engage in email and website fraud. The most common practice is referred to as "phishing". This is where a criminal sends you a request via an email that appears to come from a business you normally interact with. Their intent is to trick you into providing personal information (e.g. account numbers, passwords, etc.). This information is often used to gain unauthorized access to financial accounts, for identity theft or to engage in other illegal acts.
Please note that Spratt Savings & Loan will never send you an email requesting personal account information (e.g. social security number, account number, password or personal identification number [PIN]).
If you receive an email claiming to be from Spratt Savings & Loan requesting any personal information, DO NOT respond to the email and DO NOT click on any links within the email. You can call us at 803-385-5102 and/or forward the email to Kathy Davis, SVP at kathy.davis@sprattsavingsandloan.com to report the incident.
In addition to our security features, Spratt Savings & Loan recommends that customers:
- Keep IDs and passwords confidential
- Use passwords that include letters and numbers that are not easily discernible (do not use birthdays, child's name, etc.)
- Change your passwords frequently
- Use different passwords for each online service
If you don't recognize a transaction or suspect fraudulent activity on your account, please call 803-385-5102 immediately.
