Spratt Savings and Loan Association Security Statement

Spratt Savings and Loan goes to great lengths to make sure your money and personal data are secure, using several types of technology to ensure the confidentiality of your transactions.
We strongly recommend that you change your password upon first use in order to protect the security and privacy of your financial information.  In addition, you should change your password regularly. Our system will require that your password be changed every 90 days.  If you choose not to do so, you accept total responsibility for possible unauthorized or fraudulent use.
The federal government also provides significant protection. The same laws protecting consumers in the case of fraudulent credit card usage also protects them in the case of unauthorized online banking activity.
Browser Protocol
One of the security measures resides in yourbrowser. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols provide privacy for data flowing between the browser and Spratt Savings and Loan’s server. Secure Sockets Layer is an open protocol for security data communication across computer networks. It provides a secure channel for data transmission through encryption, supporting the transfer of digitally signed certificates and ensuring that the data cannot be altered during transmission.
Your Password
One of the most important security measures rests with you. Your transactions are protected by your individual password. This password is of your choosing in order for you to be able to commit it to memory. If you absolutely must write it down, do not store it near your computer and do not carry it in your wallet. Passwords must be a minimum of seven and a maximum of twelve characters, three (3) of which must be alpha, three (3) must be numeric and at least one (1) must be a special character.
Security Tips
We recommend that customers remember the following:
  • Keep IDs and passwords confidential
  • Change your passwords frequently (system requires password reset every 90 days)
  • Use passwords that include letters, numbers and special characters that are not easily discernable.
  • Avoid opening e-mail attachments sent from someone that you do not know
  • Maintain updated virus protection software on your computer
  • Exit the bank’s web site when leaving the computer
Spratt Savings and Loan’s Internet banking system (Thrift-E Online banking) brings together a combination of industry-approved security technologies to protect data for the bank and for you, our customer. It features password-controlled system entry, a Veri-Sign-issued Digital ID for the bank’s server, Secure Sockets Layer protocol for data encryption, and an intrusion protected firewall to regulate the flow of encrypted data on the server.
Firewall
For added security, your data passes through a "firewall" which is a computer exclusively designed to keep out unauthorized users. Your information is then scrambled once again to ensure that only authorized Spratt Savings and Loan representatives can read it.
Automatic Log-Off
For your security, our on-line banking will automatically end your Internet banking session if there is no activity on your PC for 15 minutes.
